Alignment home test for Enviolo Hub

Here is a quick at-home test to help you determine if your Enviolo hub is working correctly and reaching the high and low extremes of the gear range as it should. If you find that your hub might need some adjusting, give us a call to schedule a tune-up appointment.

First, mark an indicating spot on the rear sprocket and rear rim to indicate the starting point of the test.

In the lowest gear, slowly pedal the cranks one full rotation, and make note of how many wheel rotations you get per sprocket rotation. Let’s say for example’s sake, you get .5 wheel rotations per 1 sprocket rotation.

In the highest gear, make the same test; pedal the cranks one full rotation, and make note of how many wheel rotations you get per sprocket rotation. If we follow the above hypothetical example, a proper functioning Enviolo hub that gets about .5:1 in the lowest gear might get about 1.75:1 or 2:1 in the highest gear.

The Enviolo hub has about a 360-380% (hence the name, N380) difference in gear range according to the manufacturer’s specs, and in practice, it can vary from as low as 350% and as high as 400% depending on how accurate the test is for the gear range as well as some random circumstantial variables.

If you are able to do this test at home, pass that information to us so our service team is able to recommend the next step to resolve the issue before making a trip to the shop.
